The Solar Powered “Fresh Air” Skylight features a solar panel that captures any available daylight and uses it to recharge a highly efficient, fully concealed battery powered operator and control system. The battery powered operator is the power source that opens and closes the skylight. A rain sensor is built in to close the unit in the event that inclement weather arises while you’re away.

Background

On October 3, 2008, President George W. Bush signed into law the Emergency Stabilization Act followed by President Barack Obama signing into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) on February 17, 2009.
The combined effect of these two laws provides a 30% tax credit on both the purchase and installation of qualifying products in renewable technologies such as solar electric property, residential solar water heating, qualified small wind energy and qualified geothermal heat pump energy, among others.
Under these laws, VELUX Solar Powered Fresh Air Skylights as well as VELUX Solar Powered Blinds qualify under “Solar Electric Property” expenditures when purchased and installed from January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2016. This tax credit is a direct debit of the taxpayers total tax liability.

What do I need to do?

When the product is installed: Keep your receipts for total price paid (product and installation) for one of the qualifying VELUX products and attach them to a completed 30% Federal Tax Credit – Manufacturers Certification Statement1 and keep for your records. When it is tax time: Fill out IRS Tax form 56952 and submit it with your taxes. Enter this tax credit off of form 5695 on your 1040 form.

1] IRS Notice 2009-41 suggests the taxpayer is not required to attach this certification statement to their tax return. However, the taxpayer should retain this certification as part of their tax records.

The No Leak Skylight

The VELUX deck and curb mounted product family is designated as “The No Leak Skylight.” It carries the new 10-year installation warranty plus 20 years on glass, 10 years on product, and 5 years on blinds and controls.

Features include three layers of water protection: advanced LoE3 glass for better energy efficiency, higher visible light transmittance, and improved solar heat gain performance; money-saving pre-finished white frames and sashes; pre-mounted brackets for quick installation of sunscreen blinds; a lower roof profile with an updated curved architectural design; and a neutral gray color to blend in with most roof materials and colors.

With a 30% federal tax credit, homeowners will receive an average of $850* with federal tax credit eligibility, which makes this product very affordable. Because no wiring is required, it’s easy to replace a fixed or manual skylight

Types of blinds

Room darkening
This double pleated or flat blind can convert day into night, blocking even the brightest sunlight, which makes it ideal for rooms that require total room darkening, such as bedrooms. The blind can be either manually or solar powered and therefore does not require wiring at installation. Simply snap into place and operate with an included keypad remote.

Light filtering
No longer is direct sunlight an issue. The VELUX light filtering blind softens and diffuses the light that will enter your room. Perfect for rooms where diffused light is desired such as kitchens and living rooms. Offers both protection and good looks.

Venetian
The venetian blinds features make operation simple and convenient, with a control mechanism that allows you to position the blinds at any point on the window. Improved designs give you control over both the amount and direction of light, making it perfect for any room where light control and aesthetics are important.

KLR 200 Intelligent touch remote control
Included with your solar or electric skylight is the Intelligent touch remote control powered by VELUX INTEGRA®. With the touch-sensitive screen and easilyunderstood icons, programming skylights has become simpler than ever.

KLR 100 Advanced RF remote control
The KLR 100 is a 2-way remote control that can operate up to 200 electrical io-homecontrol® products. The display makes it possible to select and operate individual products, a group, or all products simultaneously. Time programming is also available.

KLC 500 Power supply for electrical blinds
The KLC 500 control unit is used for operation of up to 5 electrical products of the same product type in VELUX skylights. The products are operated via an io-homecontrol® activation control. It can be used with VELUX skylights as well as decoration and sunscreening products.

KLI 110 RF keypad
The KLI 110 RF keypad can be used for individual operation of one motor or simultaneous operation of several motors of the same product type using 1-way io-homecontrol® RF. The installation is wireless and battery powered.

KLF 100 Home automation integration kit
The KLF 100 Interface is used when io-homecontrol® products are to be controlled by external control devices that are not io-homecontrol® compatible as e.g. external sensors or BUS systems. The interface can activate one product or a group of products of the same product type.

KLB 100 Battery backup
The KLB 100 Battery backup can be used for electrical operated skylights. The battery backup ensures that skylights can be closed and blinds raised in case of power failure.
